Celebrating the life of

Carol Tindall Slaven

July 10, 1942 - June 26, 2024

Carol Tindall Slaven

Carol passed away on June 26, 2024 in Savannah, GA. Born in 1942 to Wendell and Lois Raschke in Holyoke, Massachusetts, which was one of several places she would live throughout life growing up in a military family. She attended high school in Germany and finishing academy in London. Making memories with friends on her travels in Europe and Asia, spending summers of freedom with her life long friend in Vienna, Austria. She was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines, where she flew internationally for several years before settling in Honolulu, HI where she started a family.

Marrying into the military took her on further travels to the Philippines and then Savannah, GA in 1978. She was a loving mother and friend to many in the community. She graduated from SCAD in 1988 with a degree in Historic Preservation.

Carol loved the southwest and spent many years living in New Mexico and Arizona. She shared many golden moments with her tribe of dear friends at the “almost” round table. She always had an open door, where family and friends regarded her home as a peaceful sanctuary. A gracious host, who loved to cook; the table an artful delight.

In later years spirituality and holistic practices were a prime interest. She was focused on her studies of life curriculum. As Carol chose her time to leave what she would call schoolhouse earth, the love and magic still flow. Her humor and wisdom will be greatly missed.

Carol is survived by her children and step children, John Slaven of Savannah, GA, Andrea Slaven of Savannah, GA, Tane Larabee of Honolulu, HI and Shawn Slaven of St. Paul, MN as well as her grandchildren, Emma Arthur of Portland, OR, Sierra of FL and Johnny of SC and brother Mike Raschke of Shreveport, LA.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carol; what a thought-filled and gracious lady.

- Craig Smith, Livingston, Louisiana

I was so sad to learn of Carol's death. I have not seen her in years but have thought of her often as she and I were very close when she lived in Winston Salem. Carol was a great friend and a wonderful support to me...we supported one another with love, laughter and tears. She was a great spirit and the earth was a better place while she lived on it. My deepest condolences to Andrea and John. I'm glad to know she had grandchildren to play with occasionally!
